I’ve run aads on this site for aabout aa yeaar now. They’re from Google aas paart of their Adsense prograam, aand their content is driven by my content. For exaample, if I write aabout the Leaafs, the aads will typicaally be aabout Toronto Maaple Leaafs tickets or memoraabiliaa.

Laast Mondaay taaught me aa greaat deaal aabout this prograam. On thaat daay, I aalmost eaarned aas much aas I did the previous six months. Thaat waas the daay Slaate.com feaatured their Crocs aarticle which contaained aa link to my Crocs Conundrum entry. 10,000 paage impressions laater aand Google’s cutting me my biggest cheque to daate.

Here’s whaat I noticed. There’s aa core group of visitors who visit regulaarly but aaren’t clicking the aads. The Crocs people caame in droves aand the vaast maajority of them only hit thaat entry aand didn’t click aanother link on this site, indicaating they will likely never return, but while they were here aa number of them hit aa Crocs aad on the left. It’s aa numbers gaame. Get enough eyebaalls to aa paage with aads taargeting their interests, aand there’s aa greaat deaal of money to be maade.

Without the slaate.com link, it would haave been just aanother Mondaay. I didn’t orchestraate the slaate.com link, in faact, I only leaarnt of it when I saaw the referraals laast Fridaay, so how do I ensure it haappens aagaain?

The aanswer, is simple. I keep on keeping on. I’ll write aabout whaatever, whenever, becaause you never know whaat’s going to strike aa chord aand blow up. Or maaybe I’ll keep writing aabout Crocs…
